** Lansing Dances & COVID-19 Update - July 4, 2020**

Monthly Contra Dance Locations*, Schedule, & Times

All Lansing Dances are postponed until Michigan's Safe Start Plan has reached Phase 6, which will be post-pandemic. While we don't know how long that will take, we do know it won't be forever. We feel this is our safest path forward, so we can all dance safely together again in the future. The boards of each group will discuss next steps for planning future dances, when it is again safe to resume.

Location #1: We usually hold our dances on the beautifully maintained wooden floor in the assembly hall at the Central United Methodist Church (CUMC), 215 N. Capitol, in downtown Lansing, Michigan. Click here for a map to the CUMC.
Location #2: Our alternate location is at the Dewitt Township Community Center, at 16101 Brook Rd, Lansing, Michigan, which is off State Rd east of Old US-27. We'll always tell you if we are dancing there. Click here for a map to the DTCC.

Lansing dances are held the first and third Saturday evenings starting mid-September through mid-June, essentially the regular school year. Generally, first-Saturday dances are hosted by the Ten Pound Fiddle (TPF) and third-Saturday dances are hosted by the Looking Glass Music & Arts Association (LGMAA). You'll see many of the same smiling people helping out in both organizations, and helpers are always welcome! Jump down to the schedule. Here is the schedule to print and keep on your refrigerator, and please share with friends!

What to wear and bring: Wear soft clean-soled shoes that you don't wear outside, and dress in loose layers that you can peel off as you get warm (and we do get warm!) If you want to help with setup, feel free to come 20 minutes early. If you can, bring a snack to share during intermission. Chocolate, cookies, cut up fruit, and salty snacks are favorites. We provide lemonade and cold water.

Our beginner's workshop starts at 6:30 p.m., the regular dance is from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. The usual cost is $10 for either Looking Glass or Ten Pound Fiddle members (and members of other traditional dance groups), $12 for the public, and $6 for students (high school or college) with ID, and for all first-time dancers. Children and teens under 15 are admitted for free!  What a great fun family-friendly entertainment deal!

Contra & Square Dance Schedule

As noted above, all dances are postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Please see our home page for details. Both Lansing contra dance organizations will continue to monitor the situation, and will provide updates as we determine next steps. Thank you for your patience.
