Dancing in Lansing, this Sat, Dec 3
Hi Friends- Hey! There is a contra dance this coming Saturday, Dec 3 in Lansing at The Central United Methodist Church- that’s 215 N. Capitol Ave in Lansing. The band will be “MJM Music Makers” with Calling by Martha Vander Kolk. New dancer intro at 6:30pm- dance is from 7pm-10. For latest Covid info, see the bottom of this email. Note- If you Feel like you have a Cold or Flu coming on, please don’t come to the dance.
Admission will be “Pay what you can” with $15 recommended The scale is from $5 to $20 - (though if you won the lottery and want to go higher, that is OK). We’re continuing this through the end of the year and seeing how it works- so far it is going pretty well - which is good!
also- i suggest you take a minute, before or after the dance, to check out the Holiday Tree in front of the Capitol - it is all lit up, in silver and gold, and I think it is quite beautiful.
The next dance in town will be Sat Dec 17- Caller will be Carol Steiner with tunes by “Scarlet Runner String Band”. Same Times, pricing and place.
NEW YEAR’S EVE
We are once again planning a New Year’s Eve dance- crossing our fingers that it will really happen this year.
What we know right now:
The dance will be at Valley Farms Community Center in DeWitt Township
16101 Brook Rd, Lansing, MI 48906 ( Just East of State Road and Old 27)
The Dance will feature the calling of our friend Darlene Underwood and hot dancing tunes by
The Johns.
The prices will be $25 for gen public, $20 for members of dance orgs, and $10 for students.
Hopefully we will be able to have a pre-dance pot luck
I really hope this can happen! and hope to see you there.
(just a bit over 4 weeks until New Year’s Eve!)
See you on Saturday! Julie LW
Covid19 is still with us (maybe forever); and my Medical and Public Health friends are getting concerned about a Winter spike. (plus there is Flu and RSV- yikes!). Once again, since this kind of dancing requires such close contact- not to mention breathing really close to your partner’s face- we request that you wear a mask while in the Fellowship Hall. However, when you are outside the Fellowship Hall, you can remove your mask if you choose.
Continuing Covid Protocols
- Everyone must provide proof of vaccination, photo ID and contact info. We hope that you have gotten one or more boosters. If you were at earlier dances this Fall, we are maintaining a list to help speed up the check in process.
- Masks MUST be worn in the dance hall, except when drinking water.
- individually wrapped/bagged snacks are ok this time
- If you are feeling off or SICK- DO NOT Come to the Dance.
