Dancing in Lansing, Sat Nov 19
Hi Friend- There is a contra dance this coming Saturday, Nov 19 in Lansing at The Central United Methodist Church- that’s 215 N. Capitol Ave. The band will be “The Liberty String Band” with Calling by Maeve Devlin. New dancer intro at 6:30pm- dance is from 7pm-10. Take a minute before or after the dance to check out the Holiday Tree in front of the Capitol - it should be all lit up and beautiful
The Ten Pound Fiddle- the sponsor of this dance - is going to follow the pattern we set at the last dance. Admission will be “Pay what you can” with $15 recommended The scale is from $5 to $20 - (though if you won the lottery and want to go higher, that is OK). We’re trying this through the end of the year and seeing how it works- so far it is going pretty well- we certainly aren’t losing nearly as much as we were- which is good!
Sad to say, Covid19 is still with us (maybe forever); and cases appear to be starting to climb (plus there is Flu and RSV- yikes!). Once again, since this kind of dancing requires such close contact- not to mention breathing really close to your partner’s face- we request that you wear a mask while in the Fellowship Hall. However, when you are outside the Fellowship Hall, you can remove your mask if you choose.
Also a reminder that when dancing at Central United Methodist Church, please stay on the first floor - either in Fellowship Hall or the hallways near it. The church now rents the carpeted room opposite the stage, and the rooms along the West side of the hall separately from Fellowship, Please stay in the spaces we have rented.
- Everyone must provide proof of vaccination, photo ID and contact info. We hope that you have gotten one or more boosters. If you were at earlier dances this Fall, we are maintaining a list to help speed up the check in process.
- Masks MUST be worn in the dance hall, except when drinking water.
- individually wrapped/bagged snacks are ok this time
- If you are feeling off or SICK- DO NOT Come to the Dance.
The next dance in town will be Sat Dec 3- Caller will be Martha Vander Kolk with tunes by “MJM Music Makers”. Same schedule as above
We are once again planning a New Year’s Eve dance- crossing our fingers that it will really happen this year. More details soon, but mark your calendar for New Year’s Eve, Sat Dec 31.
a couple end-of-year dance weekends- not too far away
