Dancing in Lansing, Sat June 18
Hi all - We’ll be coming together to dance in just a week or so! That will be Sat, June 18 at Central United Methodist Church (CUMC), 215 N Capitol Ave in Lansing. There will be a new dancer intro at 6:30pm and the dance will begin at 7pm and end at 10.
The dance will feature the calling of Maeve Devlin from Ann Arbor, and music by Tanna And the Tall Boys. In an effort to keep things simple, we are charging everyone the member price of $10. Students $5.
The Continuing Covid precautions-
- Everyone must provide proof of full vaccination (along with a photo ID). We hope that you have gotten at least one booster.
- Masks MUST be worn at all times, except when drinking water. We will provide straws. Surgical masks are better than cloth masks. N95, or K95 are even better.
- Everyone will provide contact information after presenting vaccine credentials — email and phone number. A picture on your phone of your vaccine card is OK
- Please don’t bring snacks to share.
- If you are SICK- DO NOT Come.
A NOTE- Please, when you are at CUMC, stay on the first floor- if you bring kids with you, please make sure they stay on the first floor as well. The main floor of the Fellowship Hall (and the bathrooms and entrance hall) are the only spaces we are renting for the dance. If I understand the new policies correctly, we are not supposed to be in the carpeted space at the back of the hall, or in the two class rooms on the westside of the Fellowship Hall - thanks for observing these new requests.
Don’t forget you can spend a whole week dancing on the shores of Lake Huron when you attend CDSS Dance and Spice Camp at Camp Cavell, near Lexington, MI. Camp dates are June 18- June 25. I think there is still room- and time to sign up. More info at https://camp.cdss.org.
Earful of Fiddle will be happening at Camp Brethren, near Big Rapids- the week of June 19 -23. More info at their web site - https://www.earfuloffiddle.com
MDH (Michigan Dance Heritage) is planning for Fall weekend to happen this year - Sept 23-25. This dance event is also at Camp Cavell on Lake Huron near Lexington. Nothing on the web site yet.
I’ve also been asked by the Tree Town Stomp planning committee to let you know that Tree Town Stomp- 2022, is planned for Oct 21-23 at the Concourse Hall in Ann Arbor. There is more info at: https://aactmad.org/tree-town-stomp
We hope to host a couple picnics over the summer. More info on that when we know when and where.
Happy Dancing, Julie LW
PS - ( really in and email there is no need for a PS). I won’t be at the dance on the 18th as I will be the Stage Manager for the East Lansing Summer Solstice Jazz Fest. Opens Friday the 17th if you want to come and hear some fine jazz music in a fun outdoor setting
