In 2025, Liz Burkhard called to music from The Sligo Creek Ramblers!
Join us for the best fun in Lansing to celebrate New Years Eve! We're family friendly, we don't serve alcohol, and we welcome everyone. Our bands always provide terrific live traditional and contemporary dance music, while our caller prompts the dance figures. Join us, and ring in your New Year with the joy of dance, and no hangover! Hope we see you there!
We will start with a homemade potluck dinner (see info and times at left), followed by a no-pressure new dancer lesson so that everyone is familiar with the various dance figures. If you are new to contra dancing, it's essentially just walking and moving in time to the music. If you can walk and count to 8, you're golden. There's no need to even bring a partner, as we switch off every dance.
Liz Burkhart hails from Cincinnati, OH and has been calling contra dances since 2018. During that time, she has called extensively in the Midwest, toured the Mid-Atlantic and down south, led workshops at multiple dance weekends, and called Winter Warmup in 2024. Her enthusiastic energy and clarity encourage dancers to connect and move with each other joyfully Liz seeks to find the balance between celebrating the joys of tradition and the innovation that modern contra dance craves.

- 6:30PM Potluck
- bring a dish to share
- bring the recipe so we can label allergens
- bring a serving utensil for your dish
- if possible, also bring your own place setting
- 7:30PM New dancer lesson
- 8PM Contra dance party begins
- 9:45PM Break for special yummy desserts
- 12:00AM Welcome in the new year!
