Dance Locations*, Schedule, & TimesJump down to the schedule.
We usually hold our dances on the beautifully maintained wooden floor in the assembly hall at the Central United Methodist Church (CUMC), 215 N. Capitol, in Lansing, Michigan. Click here for a Map to the CUMC. As noted, Lansing dances are held two Saturdays a month starting mid-September through mid-June. Generally, first-Saturday dances are hosted by the Ten Pound Fiddle (TPF) and third-Saturday dances are hosted by the Looking Glass Music & Arts Association (LGMAA). Many of the same smiling people help in both organizations!
What to wear and bring: Wear soft clean-soled shoes that you don't wear outside, and dress in loose layers that you can peel off as you get warm (and we do get warm!) If you want to help with setup, feel free to come 20 minutes early! If you can, bring a snack to share during intermission. Chocolate, cookies, cut up fruit, and salty snacks are favorites. We provide lemonade and cold water.
The beginner's workshop starts at 6:30 p.m., the regular dance is from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. The usual cost is $10 for either Looking Glass or Ten Pound Fiddle members (and members of other traditional dance groups), $12 for the public, and $6 for students (high school or college) with ID, and for all first-time dancers. Children and teens under 15 are admitted for free! What a great fun family-friendly entertainment deal!
